message: I bought my husband a Tag Heuer Carrera Tachymeter and was wondering what watch winder would you suggest that I buy for winding it? I am completely clueless and would like to make sure that I don't waste my time and money on winders that won't work well with my husband's watch. Thank you for your prompt reply.

Pretty much the only winder I would recommend for this watch is the Orbita Brand Avanti Watch Winder.

This is an expensive high end watch and needs an expensive high end watch winder to keep it wound.
Cheaper winders may damage the watch and will definitely not keep it wound. You were wise to write us and you will be even wiser to heed our advice. The winder is currently on sale but hurry!

I have a TAG Heuer Grand Carrera and it is big and heavy and I also have a Rolex. In addition I have some other non automatics I would like to store. Which Winder is the best for me?

The shipping zip is 37027 and the state is Tennessee. The finish I am looking for is

The best choice for your watch is the Monaco 2 Watch Winder.

Why? Cheaper Watch Winders may damage your watch and will not keep it wound. These winders are expensive but think of them as insurance for your time. They will save your time!

Patek Philippe: Question about Item Orbita Siena 3 Watch Winder and

Question:

Dear Sir,
I have several Patek Philippe automatic wrist watches (including complicated and a grand complication/perpetual), a Tag Heuer automatic and others. I currently have an Underwood Roto Box (single) and have been rotating the watches on same as I wear one. I am in need of a 3 or 4 position winder and note the Orbita Siena 3 and Monaco 3 on your website. What are the pluses/minuses of each, including price?

I admit that the extra storage on the Monaco is attractive to me as I have several manual winds, as well.

Also, what, if any, difference is there between the Orbita Siena 3 Winder and the Siena 3 Best Breitling?

A further consideration is that I have small wrists (and therefore a small strap on each watch). Is sizing an issue for the winders?

I also have a buckle latch on many, but not all, of my watches. Is this of any concern?

Answer:

As far as the winders, both the Monaco and Siena will wind all of your collection. (for the manual wind watches look at the Orbita Sempre Winder.) I think you already noted the differences the more expensive winder has the extra storage space. The style is different and that is a matter of taste. Both are a good choice.

Now the harder question:
Wrist size and buckles.

We purchased a different watch winder from a different site that we had to send back since the modes available on the watch winder would not keep the watch wound.

You did not tell me which Tag Watch you own. They use a number of different movements which require different winding settings.

However the Eilux Watch Winder you asked about is a good choice. It is a sturdy high quality reliable and quiet watch winder that can handle a heavy watch like your Tag. Cheap winders will not do the job, the price is tempting, but it is just a waste of your time as you found out!

I would say get the Buben. Arguably they are of comparable quality. The Buben does afford you the opportunity to take advantage of a good Automatic Watch deal should you stumble on such in your travels. Trust me, one Automatic is not all you will own in your lifetime. Once bitten, always smitten.

My experience of Watchcases service was worth the extra cost! Im very pleased with the overall quality of the Eilux Mahogany two watch winder (very nice and barely audible)! NOTE for those interested in this product - it does not work exactly as claimed ie; CW/pause, CCW/pause, CW/pause etc in sequence. Instead, it will rotate CW/pause/CW/pause numerous times then CCW/pause/CCW in no particular pattern which I attribute to the fuzzy logic so dont be fooled that its not working properly just because it turns CW repeatedly! So if you want the option to return or exchange your purchase DO NOT purchase from this site. My purchase was a Christmas present which I purchased in November. My boyfriend decided he wanted to exchange this item for different watchcase and this merchant charges you 3% PER DAY re-stocking fee for each day over 30 days past your purchase date. So when I tried to exchange the $60 travel watchcase I purchased the merchant wanted to charge me a $40 restocking fee. I finally got them down to charging me $30.00 (thats right, 50% of the purchase price) leaving me a $29.00 credit toward the $50 case we wanted to replace it with .So after paying shipping 3 times a $50 item ended up costing me $108.00. Make sure whatever you purchase from this merchant you want to keep. THEY HAVE THE WORST EXCHANGE POLICY I HAVE EVERY SEEN!

Before finding Watchcases, my only info regarding watch winders came from Horchow (Nieman Marcus) which is perhaps the worst place to purchase them. Fortunately for me, I came upon the company via the computer. I was able to talk via phone to DG, the owner, and I was able to peruse his written information prior to making my decision to purchase an Orbita Sparta Double Winder which does a terrific job of keeping my Rolex watch and my Tag Heuer watch running all of the time.
