My automatic watch looses time on my watch winder the watchwinder must be broken!
Well this is maybe a logical deduction if you don't understand automatic watches.
Quartz (battery powered) watches are amazingly accurate, mechanical watches especial automatic watches are not as accuarate.
Don't beleive me? Then check out this site.
http://www.fhs.ch/en/faq.php This is from the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry.Basically a Quartz watch looses less than a second a day while an automatic, a good one, will vary 10 seconds a day, so do the math and this means if you place your watch on the watch winder and walk away for a month the watch is likely to loose anywhere from 1-2 minutes a week or up to 10 minutes or so in a 30 day period...this is normal and nothing is wrong with your watch winder, but the better the watch winder the less time accuracy you will loose (or gain).
Often people discover their automatic watch is in need of service after placing it on the watch winder. Does this mean the winder broke the watch? No, not at all, automatic watches should be serviced every 3 years according to the Swiss Watch Federation, and I think they over estimate the service length, but few people actually service their watches like they should!
Basically you can see that with this inherent weakness in accuracy of an automatic watch, that you should purchase a fully programmable watch winder. This allows you to adjust the winding time as needed by your watch. It is mechanical and a slight variation in the internal parts of the watch means 2 of the same watches can acutally require different winding, even if they have the exact same name and model and movement stamped on the watch!
Automatic watches are as individual as you are, doesn't your watch deserve the very best watch winder you can afford to buy?
