Question: Hello,
So that I can select the proper watch winder, can you tell me how many turns per day are needed for an IWC Portuguese Perpetual watch. I like the Siena; however here's my dilemma: I'm living in Bangkok now and only get home a few times a year, I need to put the watch(IWC Portuguese Perpetual) in my safe (it is like a std hotel safe) and the opening is only 5 3/4 inches high but plenty deep and wide, the Siena will not fit. I could get another safe but it will not be as secure as the one built into the room, what do you think, any ideas?
Thank you,
J. Brast
Answer:Dear Mr. Brast,
The IWC Portuguese Perpetual watch is a beautiful watch. In researching
the winding needs for your watch I surmise that the requirements are approximately 800 TPD. We would therefore recommend one of our Orbita or Eilux Watch Winder products.
Orbita is a very reliable high end watch winder company and Eilux is a very good dependable entry level watch winder brand.
These Watch Winders are all well made, sturdy, quiet and able to
handle the winding needs of an IWC Portuguese Perpetual watch. There are several single watch winders that I would recommend for your IWC Portuguese Perpetual watch .
1.)
The Siena Watch Winder, Item# OR-SIENA/W1, is a fully programmable watchwinder for your watches' needs. http://www.watchcases.com/orbita-watch-winder-siena-1.html
The Siena Winder comes in an attractive fully enclosed wood display
case with several finish options. (Piano Black, the most popular, Teak or Burl.)
2.)
Another option is the Orbita Bellino watchwinder, Item# OR-BELLINO/W1 .

This Bellino watch winder is also great for travel or safe storage since it is small and compact. It is housed in a beautiful and durable leather case.
You can view both of these items by clicking the links above.
3.) A third option,
though not a programmable winder is an excellent choice for your watch since it operates through the full range of movement and winds the necessary Turns Per Day is the Orbita Sparta Watch Winder, http://www.watchcases.com/sp1blwawi.html
it comes in an open air model and in a wood boxed model. The Sparta Series of Watch Winders is unique and like no other watch winder on the market. The Open Air model is best for someone who does not wish to pay extra for the nice box or who plans on putting the watch and watch winder inside a safe. It is shorter only 4.75 inches tall.
4.) A final Good Choice is the
Eilux Cubic Watch Winder in Leather.
"CubicLux" Leather Winder |Eiluxhttp://www.watchcases.com/wiculbyevwi.html
This winder is a great choice for storage in a safe or for travel since you can lie it flat and it will still wind your watch. Though not as programmable as the Orbita Watch Winders, the Eilux Cubic Winder in Genuine Leather is a good choice. It measure only 4 inches tall when on its side, so this works in almost all safes!
